Inserted picture won't print "x" instead of picture

We have tried cutting the picture and replacing it with the original jpg, it
looks fine in the print view, but the box is empty except for the error "x"
when printed.

Take a look at Tools>Options>Print & make sure there is a check in the box
for Drawing Objects. If that isn't the fix, respond with detail about which
version of Word, etc. Also, does "print view" mean Print Layout View _or_
Print Preview? What technique are you using to get the image into Word?

Yes, the Tools/Options/View/Drawing bit is checked. Interestingly, the image
will print on my computer, but not my colleagues, and other images on his
computer in the same document print fine We are using Word 2003. Print view
means "Print Layout View" Image was put into document using "Insert
Picture-from file"
Thanks!

I'm not sure what's up, as what you describe is usually associated with
missing 'linked' graphics which can't be found at printing time. However,
they typically don't show up in Print Layout View either.

Is the other user opening the same Word file or a copy of it?

Are you both using the same printer?

Where is the problem image stored - network drive, shared folder, locally?

What happens if the other user creates a new blank doc, Insert>Picture>From
File - 'Problem Image'... does it show up in the doc, is it visible in Print
Preview, does it print?

Note that CyberTaz was talking about the "Drawing objects" check box on the
PRINT tab of Tools | Options, not VIEW.

Thanks--will check on that...
