inserted project uses template name

Hello!

I need to provide a "portfolio" view of several different
projects on a bi-weekly basis. I've determined that the
best way to do this is by linking all of the projects into
a master project. I have done this successfully, however
if I insert a project which was created using a template,
the project name in the master project defaults to the
template name.

Any clue how to correct either the template name or the
default name field so that it will use the file name, not
the template name upon insertion?

Hello Stephanie,
Have you tried to change the Title of the inserted projects :
File / Properties / Title...

Hope this helps,

Yup. Tried that and it works for projects that do not
have a template assocated with them. But since I am
distributing templates to my subprojects in an attempt to
standardize..... I'll have to find a solution that works
for projects that use a template.

Thanks though for responding!

I have the same problem. The only way I got around it was
to copy the info into a new Project and the save it agin.
A bit of a pain, but couldn't get it organised otherwise.

I finally got a work around. It is:

1. Open the file which you want to insert
2. Go to Tools>Options>View tab
3. At the bottom of view tab, CHECK the "show project
summary task."
4. On the gantt chart, the task zero appears with the
Project summary task name.
5. Change the Task Name. FYI. The program MUST register
some sort of change to the existing task name in order for
this work around to be successful.
6. Save the file
7. Reinsert the file in the master project.
