Similar question to <http://www.officeformac.com/ProductForums/PowerPoint/1623/0> (Powerpoint slides do not retain type/font colors).

Version: Office 2008 for Mac SP1
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Tried the 2 approaches to inserting slides from another PPT:
1) Used slide sorter to copy-paste slides and "Keep source formatting".
2) Used Insert->Slides from...->Other Presentation, and checking "Keep design of original slides".

Both approaches turn out bad. The 2nd one is worse. Fonts are properly installed. Both PPT files were created in Windows XP/Vista Office 2003 and in those platforms these issues weren't a problem.

Is this a bug in PowerPoint 2008 for Mac or is there a workaround?

I'm re-posting my reply to your other message, but please don't submit the
same issue multiple times. Now that you have, however, please keep any
further conversation within this thread rather than returning to the other
one.

The first thing I'd check on is your update level for Office: Your info says
"SP1" but there have been 6 more updates since the release of SP1 (12.1.0).
Use AutoUpdate to get 12.1.5 & 12.1.7 applied, then repair disk permissions
& see if the problems continue. I believe both issues were corrected by the
12.1.5 update.

If the issue continues please post as a NEW message rather than
piggy-backing what's actually a different situation into a defunct thread
from 4 months ago that dealt with what may seem to be a "similar" issue.
State all exact facts including specific OS X update level in order to
maintain focus on your situation.
