Inserting drawing objects in XP

When i attempt to put a drawing object (in particularly a rectangle) in the
document - XP inserts a huge placholder which disrupts the document so much,
i cant see where to draw the object - anyway to stop this?

Hi Jethro

To prevent the drawing canvas from appearing, go to Tools > Options > View
and uncheck the option to show the canvas when inserting drawing objects.
