Michael's advice is o.k. if you are importing a few screenshots only.
Because you mentioned "a varietyof web sites", I would recommend a slightly
different method: Press Alt+PrtScn (for the active window) or PrtScn (for an
image of the whole monitor) BUT first paste it into an image processing
Program and save it as a file (PNG works well, JPG is an alternative). Then
use "Insert - Picture - From file" to insert your image. This will keep your
PPT-file smaller! (Sorry to correct you, Michael!)
If using PPT 2002, right click on one picture, choose "Format picture" and
"Compress", apply it to all pictures. This will reduce file size
additionally.

As long as you do not need to navigate around the web page, the easiest way,
is to visit the web page, pres Alt+PrtScn, to capture the page as an image,
open PowerPoint, and paste your image
