Inserting pictures into text using Outlook 2000

I am trying to send an e-mail message and insert a picture into the
main text portion of the message. I can insert it but when I send the
picture is not included in the message. Attachments work fine, I can
go into word and add the picture then send as an email and that words,
but not when going directly into outlook 2000.
I know its got to be something simple but I can't find it..

Cathee, we'll need to know your Outlook version, what editor you're using
(WordMail or built-in), what mail format (HTML or RTF), and whether the
pictures are on your local machine or on the Internet.
