I am trying to insert a word document into my publication. But when try to
do so, the document opens in a new publication instead of my current one. Am
I doing something wrong? How can I get the document to be inserted into my
current document instead of a new one?

Which version of Publisher?

In '03, with the publication open, click Insert, Object, scroll down to
Microsoft Word Document, make sure "Create from File" is checked on the left
side of the window. Browse to the Word file in question and select it.
Click OK. If this doesn't insert the document into the current publication,
describe exactly what happens.

I have version 02. Thanks for your suggestion, which works up to a point.
I wanted to insert the Word text into a text box I had created, but it seemed
to spill out beyond the box. Previously, the Word text did at least fit
into the page template, even though it was in a new document, instead of the
existing one.
I have used this method before for feeding text into a publication page. In
fact I was doing so only this morning. But when I tried again, it went wrong
as I have described. Your suggestion is better but doesn't quite give me
what I wanted.
THanks

Since my last answer, I have discovered I cannot edit the text I have
inserted using your method. I need to be able to work on the text once I
have imported it.
Should welcome any further suggestions.

Create a text box, right-click the box, click *change text*, click *text file*,
browse to the Word file. Publisher will automatically create new text boxes and
pages as needed
