install office 2003 to another machine

D

Dr. Palpatine

Hi, I have office 2003 installed on one of my machines. I understand that I
can only use 1 license for one machine? I need to install this 1 license to
another machine. Will this cause me problems? If I uninstall from the one
machine, will I have trouble installing it to another machine? Thanks.

Did that copy of Office come pre-installed on your computer when you got it.
If so, it is limited to *that* specific machine and cannot be installed an
any other computer.

If it is a full retail version, uninstall it from the first system and
install it on the second. You will have to use the phone activation and
explain the situation to Microsoft.

Does the phone activation cost money? I have read some posts that state
this. This is office 2003 pro, retail version. I am considering buying
another license for one or two machines on my network. Thanks. dr. p.

If you are in the US, it's a toll-free call. I don't know outside of the US.
Some types of calls do involve you paying but not activation.

Because it's retail you can uninstall it and install it on a different
system.

Thanks JoAnn. Because I can uninstall it and reinstall it, are there a
certain amount of times I can do this?

Also, what information does the activation take from my system to
authenticate. I had installed it while it was not connected to the network,
or in the Internet, but it still shows that it was activated. Thanks JoAnna.

There may be a max number of times that you can uninstall from one system
and reinstall on another but I don't know where to look. I would suggest
contacting MS directly for a definitive answer instead of relying on *my*
guesswork/research.

Actually, I am using a 7mg connection, but the system was not connected to
the network at the time it was installed. A mystery to me.
