I'm trying to install Groove v3.1 on a few Windows 2000 Clients. All of them
with W2kSP4 and all security patches.
On some this installation works fine, on others it takes hours of waiting
and then groove gets installed. On some, I can't install Groove Client at
all.

any clues?

Dear Folk,

Based on my research, We need to check the following points.

1:please check if you have the privilege of local administartor when you try
to install it
2: Please check if any anti-spyware or anti-virus software have been used
and which may effect this issue.

So please let us refer to these stgeps and then test the results.

1:please download the msconfig.exe tool from internet
2:please do the following steps :
============
1. Click Start, click Run, and then in the Open box, type "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks). Click OK.
2. In the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) window, click to select
the Selective Startup button.
3. Click to clear the check mark from the "Load startup items" below
Selective Startup.
4. Click the Services tab, make a check on Hide All Microsoft Services, and
then click Disable All.
5. Click OK to close the MSConfig window. Click Yes when you are asked to
restart your computer in order to enable the changes.
6. After restarting, you will get a message. This message will appear at the
next startup or logon after you change the settings in MSCONFIG every time.
Just click to select "Don’t show this message or launch the System
Configuration Utility when Windows starts".
Then please try to install the Groove again and see the results.

Thanks for your suggestions
I did all what you said, and noticed, that even though I had local Admin
rights, it didn't work.
Logging on with a domain Admin though, helped. (Setup ran through without a
problem)
I can't do that on all the clients wich don't work and would actually like
to know, why, if you wait for an hour, the setup gets done??
I moved a testclient and a testuser to a OU without policies, no
restrictions, local Admin to simulate something similar to a Domain Admin.
That unfortunatly didn't work either.

Any further possibilities or answers concerning why the setup needs Domain
Admins to get installed?

Many thanks for your help
Paul

Hi,

Is there any error message during installation? If Groove complete
installing after one hours, are you been able to run Groove successfully?
