Installation Issues with Office 2003

J and N

We had installation problems with the Upgrade version of Office 2003. We
obtained the Full version of Office Professional 2003 a few weeks ago and
have the following difficulty:
1. On our new Windows Vista-using laptop, we get this dialog box:
"F:\SETUP.EXE/Data error (cyclic redundancy check)"
2. On our Windows XP/SP3-using PC and sometimes on the laptop, we get a
dialog box that asks for the Product ID. It does not accept either of the
following, which are the only numbers we have:
- Product ID: 73931-640-4339835-57976
- Product Key: 90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9
Please help. Thanks!

You have a bad Office CD (cyclic redundancy check)

Also, you do not have the proper 25-character product key.

A product key should be in this format:

AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE

I would suggest contacting the seller for a refund.
Your Office 2003 may not be "genuine".

The key quoted is not the product key, it is I believe the MS designation
for Office 2003
If it is a genuine cd the key is given on an Orange sticker on the cd case

Yes, and it would be unwise to post that key here.

How can we obtain the key? We are NOT asking for anyone to post it, just a
link where we can get it.

The product key (license) came with the Office CD you said you purchased.

By buying them again. What you bought were those numbers. You've lost
what you bought. An alternative is Open Office, which is free and has no
numbers to type in to install and use it. Check it out at

TWO things:

1. We can't find the case right now. Is there any other way to obtain the ID?

2. Yours is the second notification we got today for which the link produced
only a blank page when we tried to click it. Once we got into the forum by
alternate means, however, the link goes to the correct place. Would someone
please fix and explain this?!

Thanks!

Try calling MSFT.
They might be able to help after you provide proof of purchase.

You are using the on line groups, which is 'crappy method'
Outlook Express, or Windows Mail is a dedicated news reader
The MS groups are hosted on the msnews.microsoft.com news server

You contact MS via the link posted earlier 'how to replace.........'
You will need to provide proof of purchase
