Installation of MS Office Professional Edition 2003 - Questions

Sam

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Pro and Office Xp
Small Business installed. I now have the MS Office Professional Edition
2003 and want to install it on my computer.

a. Should I install the new office 2003 program over the existing office
program or should I uninstall the existing Office program first.

b. When I install the Office 2002 program, will I have a choice as to
which programs (i.e., word, excel, access, etc) that I want to install?

c. Any suggestions regarding the installation and setup of the MS Office
Professional Edition 2003 program would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for any help, Sam.

Hi, Sam,

a. Doesn't matter. I haven't seen any evidence that points to either way
being better.

b. Yes, if you choose to do a custom installation when prompted.

c. I'd do the custom install and select to install everything to run from
your computer. This will minimize the possibility that future setup
activities will require your original installation media. Bear in mind that
Office 2003 doesn't have a Shortcut Bar any longer. You can install your
Office XP shortcut bar or use the Windows Quick Launch bar to replace its
functionality.

Other than that, it's a pretty straightforward process. Good luck--
