Hi Karen
The Msocache folder is created as a local installation source for your
Office 2003 installation. When the Office 2003 Setup program requires
source files, instead of prompting your for your Office CD-ROM, the Setup
program uses the local installation source (the Msocache folder) for the
files that are required to complete the Setup program.
Check out the following article for more FAQ about it.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Local Install Source Feature

Q7: How do you control the location of the \MSOCACHE folder?
A7: To specify the location of the \MSOCACHE folder, use the
LOCALCACHEDRIVE setup property. This property can be enabled from a command
line
or a Setup settings file (Setup.ini).
For more information about how to control the Local Install Source settings
and location, see the Setup.htm file on the Office 2003 installation CD.

| I've got two hard drives -- 30GB master and 12GB slave.
| Everything Office-related is on the 30GB master, except
| there's a folder called MSOCache on the 12GB.
|
| Is this why every time I open an Office application, it
| has to go through some kind of installation process
| before the application opens? How do I fix it? Can I just
| drag the MSOCache folder over to the 30GB drive or do I
| need to re-install?
|
Hope this helps.

Ian Baird
