"installation source for this product is not available....

I tried Office 2007 but found it so unstable that I had to un-install it. Now
I can no longer work in OfficeXP nor can I repair or reinstall it. I get the
following error message:

"The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the
source exists and that you can access it."

What does this mean? And what do I have to do to get back up and running? I
have a copy of my original disk and, in times past, have had no trouble
running it.

I have three months work invested in an Excel spreadsheet and can no longer
work with it. This is catastrophic for me!

Mary:

Thanks for the response. I have a 6/12/06 version of the Windows Installer
Cleaner Utility which I did use to get rid of Office2007. I do have a product
code for OfficeXP but have been fearful of uninistalling that in case I still
can't access the installer.

So, okay, I'll use the new Installer Clearner Utility to clean out the
references to OfficeXP as well and then try again to install it.

Thanks again. I'll let you know if this does the trick.

I heard that it was not good to use the Windows Install Cleanup Utility to
uninstall MS2007. Have you tried going Startup, Programs (All), PC Help &
Tools and System Restore? Go back to a date when you had your computer
working to the way you liked it.

Tnanks for your response. I guess that's as good a plan as any. Before I try
the Cleaner on OfficeXP and find out I can't reinstall.

If that doesn't work, then I'll try the reinstall.
