Installing Access from Office 97 Professional on New PC

I have recently purchased a new computer running on Windows XP. I have
installed Microsoft Office 2003 but it does not contain Access which is quite
important to me. I have tried installing Access from Office 97 Professional
CD but when I try to open it I get an error message which roughly says
'Access cannot be opened. This programme has not been registered on this
computer'. Can anyone tell me how I can install and run Access without
getting too technical please! I do not need to import any old files as my
previous computer is still operational but now difficult to get at!
Thanks

The Access 97 license error is well-known and the fix is documented on
Microsoft's web site.
