Hi Joann' Thanks for your quick response. But with windows XP the place
where you sent me does not directly relate. i can find a user profile, but
the only option I have is to change it to :roving profile" I do not know if
that is the same as the suggestion that applies to windows98 or not .
Any idea on that?

Thanks

Maybe the following article would be worth a look:

(236592) You receive a "required registry
information is missing" error message, or
a program immediately quits after starting
in Office 2000 on Windows XP, Windows
NT 4.0, or Windows 2000

Hi John,

Thanks for your response. I am getting a bit of handle. My 1402 error is a
bit different from the one you referre me to. It goes like:
HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\Optional
Components\Imail
What I read when I get there is: Name: (ab) Default
Reg: SZ
Valur: not set.

Perhaps you could direct me to a solution for this particular problem ?

Thanks

Sometimes installation problems can be solved by right-clicking the setup and
install via Administrator.

Sorry...I don't have any additional info.

Seems to me the instructions say...

Launch Regedt32.exe and drill to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office

With the 'Office' folder selected (highlighted in blue)
Follow the instructions below the heading:
For Microsoft Windows XP
