installing office 97

I had Office 97 on my laptop then tried to load office
2000, it copied to hard drive, but tells me it is not
installed. Now I do not even have Office 97. When I
tried to install office 97 back, it tells me that I do not
have enough space..and then tells me that the disc might
be corrupted. Both seem to be on my hard drive, but not
installed. Help

Unless you did a custom install, or and I cannot remember, this it asked if
you wanted to update from the earlier version, you will have probably
corrupted both versions as the default install will use the same/ similar
folder structure.
You would probably be advised to uninstall both, if you can without recourse
to the registry. before reinstalling. MS advises against installing two
versions of Office though you can certainly run an earlier version of an
individual Office app, e.g. Access
There are specific requirements/ installation procedures if this is your
need.
