Installing Office on a new computer

B

babyositto

I recently tried to install office on my new computer and when I tried to
register it, I was denied with an error message saying it was already
registered. Is there a way to transfer a registration from an old obsolete
computer to my new computer w/out buying new office software??

Was your original version preinstalled on that old computer when you
got it? If so...it's an OEM version (original equipment manufacturer)
and you're not allowed to reinstall it to any other PC because the
license belongs to the PC and not to you. If the PC dies...so does
your license to use that software.

If you purchased it outright, then the license belongs to you. If that
is the case, then you can contact Microsoft, explain the situation and
get a key to install the software.

I think this number should still work 1-800-426-9400
