Installing Office XP Pro

I have had several problems with Microsoft Word 2000
after upgrading my computer OS from 98 to XP. I have now
purchased Office XP Pro and wonder if I should uninstall
Works 6.0 and all components or just install XP over it.
I am trying to avoid as many problems as possible. Any
tips and information would be greatly appreciated.
