installing office xp

i am currently running windows xp home edition and
recently got a copy of office xp and was wondering if
when i install it if i need to backup my computer like
you need to if you re-install an operating system? or
will it just install like any normal program and the rest
of my computer will remain unchanged? please let me
know, thank you.
