Interlocking letters

Is it possible to interlock/overlap letters for a logo. I need to use the
initials "L", "M" and "Q". I have tried using three text boxes and grouping
them but I think there may be a better way.

This is best done in an illustration program, but you might try using
WordArt (three separate objects).
