Intersecting

I have a picture as one shape. I would like to intersect with a circular
shape and remove everything except for the contents of the circle. I have
made the circle tranparent. When I intersect, the remaining shape is blank.
How do I achieve this?

Hi

if you select the circle shape first and then the picture shape intersection
takes the combination of the two and apply the characterics if the first
selected shape
visio can't do that with the characterics of an embedded picture
so it blanks the combined space
the space it still there and you can fill in with a color

There is a turnaround.
Draw a filled white rectangle on your picture (with the same size so you
picture is no ponger visible).
Draw your circle.
Select the rectangle and the circle.
Choose substract operation.
select the staying part of the rectangle and choose no line format.
Now you have only the part of the picture that is needed.
