Is it possible to bleed pictures in word?

I need to send something to print and it's made in word. I want to put tabs
on it and to do that the printer needs at least 1/4" of bleeding.

Is it possible or do I have to go to InDesign or Quark?

This is a print issue. Unless you have a printer that can print to the edge,
you can't print full bleed from *any* application, including Word.

Sorry, I didn't explain my problem very well.

I need to create a document that allows a professional printer to see
bleeding graphics, crop marks and other symbols.

In that case, Word is not your best choice. Even Publisher would be better.
If you are submitting the document electronically, any pictures that bleed
will bleed when viewed by the printer, but even commercial printers can't
print full bleed; they have to print on larger pages and trim. For crop
