Is there a way to remove macros from normal.dot?

I am using Word 2000 in a networked environment. I am creating a template
for others to use; however, when I put in the macros for the template, I
started getting error messages when opening other word documents not
associated with the template. The macros are an AutoOpen, AutoClose,
EnterKeyMacro.

I am creating an online schedule form for our IT department and need the
template to be available to everyone else in the department. But, I don't
need the error messages when other documents are opened up.

The template will have to be stored on a network drive everyone can access
so that any changes can be done on the one template. Any help in this matter
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hi Mark

The following may help:

Make sure your macros are in the template you want to use; not normal.dot.
For information about the AutoOpen and AutoClose macros, see:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/DocumentEvents.htm

On distributing templatess, see:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/DistributeMacros.htm
The template will have to be stored on a network drive everyone can access
so that any changes can be done on the one template.

If you choose to store a template on a network drive, bear in mind that Word
puts a lock on the file when any user opens any document based on that
template. So you can only make changes to the template if every user closes
every such document. That generally translates to "out of hours", hoping
that everyone has turned off their machine!

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information and your quick response. I made the changes to
the template and have to try them out tomorrow after I correct a few more
simple errors. I chose to set them up under Document_new to keep them
specific to the template only without affecting any other documents. I'll
let you know how it works as soon as I finish testing. Thanks again.

I just wanted you to know how much your advice helped. I started out using
the document_xxxxx form for the macros at first. Those wouldn't work. So I
changed them to the AutoXXXXX macro form and they started working as planned.
Thank you again for all of your help.
