Is there a way to resize the Task Information window?

using MSP 2003. Lots of process information has been added to Task Notes. Is
there a good way to export this information (maintaining the formatting) or
at least to resize the Task Information window to see it better?

Joe,
No, there is no way to resize the Task Information window. However you
probably have found out that when the notes text goes longer than the
window, a scroll bar is provided.

WIth regard to exporting the Task Notes field. I have a macro that
exports the Notes and a few other select fields to Excel. However, you
mentioned you want to preserve the formatting. Depending on what
formatting you have applied, my macro may or may not maintain that
formatting. If you are interested, contact me at the address below.

Thanks, John. I don't think your macro will be needed. The text was >250
characters on many tasks and always gets truncated on export. In this case
the notes went longer(vertical scroll bar is fine) and wider than the
window(no horizontal scroll bar). Also the text formatting included
paragraphs, bullets, and bold highlights. The PM who originally added the
text to the notes ended up pasting the text screen-by-screen into Powerpoint.
Perhaps a future version could launch an editor program from the Notes.

Joe,
You're welcome. For your reference, a "normal" type export, (i.e. cut
and paste or export map), will in fact truncate the Notes text at 256
characters. That's why I wrote the macro. The base version of my macro
will export all the Notes field text except it will not replicate
formatting (e.g. bullets, font characteristics, etc.). I'll also point
out that Excel has a text wrap limit. It will only text wrap in any
given cell up to 1024 characters. An expanded version of the macro gets
around the Excel word wrap limitation, but, that version is not freeware.

Here's a nifty little trick to see more of the Notes on any task:

1. Apply the Gantt Chart view and then select any task (single-click only).
2. Click Window - Split.
3. Right click in the lower pane (Task Form) and select the Notes details.
4. Grag the split bar between the Gantt Chart (top pane) and Task Form
(bottom pane) and drag it up to resize the Notes section.

Just a thought. Hope this helps.
