Arbitrary Date Changing Between MSP 2003 and MSP 2007 (also posted onserver newsgroup)

Hi,

Using MPSe 2007 with all relevant service packs installed.

I am importing files from other environments delivered in MSP 2003
format. Due to data corruption issues all files not native to the
server are saved as .xml, re-saved as 2007.mpp, and then the 2007.mpp
file imported to enterprise using the import wizard.

I've hit a snag with this process. I have noticed work is changing
and
duration is being recalculated in some tasks. I have compared the
2003.mpp file and.xml file work and duration info using notepad. It
is
the same. When the .xml file is opened in 2007 the duration of some
tasks has been recalculated (automatic calculation is off). All
calendars - resource, project, and task - have been manipulated to
create the same working time. I have compared all task information
and
found no distinction between tasks that are changing durations and
tasks that are not and no correlation between the task information in
the tasks that are changing.

When the 2003.mpp file is opened directly in 2007 and saved as a
2007.mpp file there is no such re-calculation.

I feel like I must be missing something obvious...anyone?

(also posted on server newsgroup - apologies for duplication...just
being thorough)

Thanks,

Paul

Think I have found the answer - it's in 2007 help; quote;

"The duration for my task changed unexpectedly when I recalculated it
in Microsoft Office Project 2007"

Symptoms
I opened a project in Microsoft Office Project 2007 that I created in
Microsoft Office Project 2003. When I recalculated the project, the
durations changed, even though I didn't make any changes that would
affect duration.

Cause
Office Project 2003 did not update elapsed durations when a project
was recalculated. This has been fixed in Office Project 2007. When you
recalculate an Office Project 2003 file in Office Project 2007, the
elapsed durations are updated, resulting in changed data. The new data
reflects the accurate elapsed durations for your project's tasks.
