Is there a way to show progress in a Summary task bar?

I am working on a Project file that is comprised of 7 or 8 small
projects. I created a custom view that shows *just* the Summary tasks,
then I modified the Summary bar to look like a regular task bar. This
is a great little project snapshot view.

It would be REALLY great if the summary bars showed the current
progress of each of these projects. (The way you can see progress
information for a normal task.) Is there any way to do that?

Hi,

Format
Bar Styles
Search for the first free line
Name: Summary progress
Shape: whatever you fancy
Show for: Summary
From: Start
To: Complete Through
OK
Hope this helps

Hi Cybert,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

In Project 2003, try Format/Bar Styles... and remove the star from in front
of the Rolled up progress entry. FAQ #33 on the legend might be relevant.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Format>Bar Styles (Not Bar) in the view you created. Click on the summary
bar, then in the lower half there is a tab for text. You may add what ever is
available. Hope this helps.

Thanks, guys! This leads me to another question:

One of my projects started in November, got interrupted for about 3
months, and resumed earlier this month. The earlier tasks are 100%
complete. The new tasks are currently on schedule.

Unfortunately, when I look at my new Summary view it shows that this
project started in November and the summary gantt bar shows little
progress -- making it look like the project is way behind schedule.

I suspect this isn't more of a process issue than a Project issue, but
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Cybert,

I don't know whether this will fix it, but have you tried
Tools/Tracking/Update project... and select to reschedule from the status
date?
