Is there an easier way to create fill in fields

M

Mary

Sometimes I want to insert fill in fields in a Word document e.g. <insert
text here>. I like them to have yellow highlighting which disappears once
the default text is replaced. These are just regular word documents, not
forms. My usual method is as follows::

1. Open Forms toolbar

2. Insert a text form field

3. Right-click, choose Properties

4. Type the default text

5. Click OK

6. Turn off form field shading on the Forms toolbar

7. Close the Forms toolbar

8. Apply yellow highlighting to the one-click text

Is there a simpler method? This just seems so tedious. Sometimes I just to
find one elsewhere in the file, copy and paste it and change the text if
necessary.

Thanks.

Look into macrobutton fields. After you insert the field, press Alt-F9 to
display field codes. Select your prompt text and apply a highlight to the
prompt. Press Alt-F9 again to hide the field codes. Note that you can skip
from field to field using the F11 key.

Charles:
I was always curious as to how those one click fields in the MS templates
were created. These are a little quicker to create than the form fields that
I was using before. Also, I didn't know that the F11 key could be used to
cycle through fields.
Thank you very much.
