Job possibility with mail merging, files to practice with?

I know it'll be easy once I get there, but it looks like this job is
strictly doing mail merge and I'd like to get some practice in before
they call me in. Can anyone suggest a good site for example files so
that I can just jump right in? Once I've practiced with a few and
seen the format, _then_ I'll spend the rest of my practice time
actually setting some files up.

Pls, hoping someone knows. I'm a little anxious re this job because
it sounds like it might be a way into this department.

Thanks.

Sure, go through the tutorials on Microsoft.com. I just recently upgraded to
Word 2003 and went through the mail merge tutorial here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010349201033.aspx. It walks
you through every step of the process and shows you how to set up a mail
merge source file in Excel for names and addresses, so you learn how to
create your own example files.

Yes, it did help enormously. I know I was being a bit overly cautious
and a bit afraid since in all these years, haven't merged in Word
before, really, but walking through the site helped. I'm ready for my
job today!

Thanks!

The funny thing is that, as happens so often, the job was a WP one.
The co. didn't tell the agency. But WP is always so easy, so no
problem. The beautiful thing is that with a few macros, figured out
how to convert Excel data (another _excellent_ program, Excel) into
merge file format and in less than a second had working data for WP.
So that went easily. Which was great as conversions can sometimes be
tricky. But it went smoothly with no hitches whatsoever.

I actually have now learned how to merge in Word, and in this present
contract. I figured out how to use Excel table data and to link it to
a work form file. Quite easy in Word 2002, but I just needed to
actually get the experience and it was nice doing that without having
the stress of merging as almost being my sole purpose in a job
contract, like at the previous contract! <g>.

Again, thanks for the help. I'm now comfortable with this aspect of
wordprocessing in Word.

Cheers!
