jpeg image does not appear in Publisher

Have tried the 'picture frame' route and direct insert. The external handles
of the image appear but not the image itself. Same prob with gif. Corel
Draw is OK.
First time I've used Publisher

Thanks Mary - that option was ticked.
Found out how to solve the problem - get frustrated, switch off go home,
open up next day, pictures visible!!!! Have had no further problem inserting
images.
