Jumping Cursor While Typing

N

Nicole

I am having a problem with word... When I start typing the cursor jumps to an
earlier line in the document and continues the sentence in the middle of the
previous paragraph (until I notice and move it back). This is happening every
couple lines... it jumps up the page. It is really annoying. I understand
that this might be caused by some function of the program or keyboard that I
have inadvertently turned on. Help! How do I get it to stop?

Usual Reason...

You have a laptop with a touchpad device: the touchpad simulates a mouse
click with a double-tap of the pad. It is so sensitive the just brushing
over the pad is sufficient to simulate a mouse click, so suddenly the cursor
jumps to wherever the pointer is resting while you are typing.

Usually, you can disable the double-click function or you can desensitize
the touchpad. Or better still, get a laptop wireless mouse and totally
disable the touchpad.

I am having same problem again. NOTE it was cured with a patch installed
from MS site but then I reinstalled XP again later, and now its back.

My cursor jumps backwards and inserts the characters anywhere it wants.

It does this in all web browser boxes, google, MS sites, WORD and virtually
everywhere HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Is it a laptop with a Touchpad? Desensitize the Touchpad or disable the
click simulation option.
