No you did right by saving your personal.pst file before
formating. Now you have to find out where outlook is
keeping personal.pst file and replace it with the one you
have saved. Do this by runing a search on your computer
for personal.pst or just *.pst.
Another way to be able to access your old emails,
contacts ect. is by using the import function that is
found under the file menu. You should be able to import
the pst file once you have specified the type file you
are importing (.pst) and its location (browse to its
location).
