I am just using outlook for the first time...it asks me for my
password every time I try to recieve messages even though i check the
box to remember my password. Help.
One more if you don't mind....how can I get outlook to tell me when I
have new mail...it will not notify me unless I manually hit
"send/recieve. Can't it be set to notify me via the tray icon even if
I do not have the program open???
Thanks all.

question 1: Retaining passwords for your accounts:
Click Tools; scroll down to email accounts, click it;
Click view or change accounts; click next; highlight the
account and click change; where it says logon information
and you type in user name and password click the box and
remember password.

question 2: Send and receive settings;
click on Tools and scroll down and highlight send and
receive settings and then click on Define send and receive
groups; click the box that says Schedule and automatic
send and receive every ..... minutes. I would suggest to
keep the send and receive at least 3 apart. It can only
send and receive if the program is open.

Thank you for the reply. The part 2 answer worked. Part one did not,
but there is a known problem with this. I have been trying all the
fixes posted on microsoft.com and they have not worked so far either.
Thanks again.
