Any way to kern typography in Powerpoint?

I've got holes in words I can drive trucks through.

Hi Rob,

PowerPoint does not offer Kerning from its interface. However, if you have
Microsoft Word you can do the Kerning there (Format > Font > Character
Spacing) then copy from Word and paste into PowerPoint.

Question: is it that the type's not up to DTP standards, or is it really out
to lunch? We used to see some really insane mis-spacing and glyph overlaps
on older Mac systems when the screen fonts had gotten corrupted.

Also, are you going by what you see on screen in edit mode or by what shows
up in screen show mode or in printouts? Edit mode can be a bit rougher.
