kernel32.dll error

I have recently become unable to open an existing file for
Publisher XP. I have loaded all the updates available to
me and I still get the error, Publsher encountered an
error and must close. I am able to start from scratch,
just not able to open and existing file. Any thoughts?

Does this happen with all existing files, or just some?
Can you open files that you have saved since the problem developed? If you
create a new file now, and save it, will it open?
