Hello, All!

My manual (OH, the good old days!) for Word that came with
Office 97 describes what is kerning and how to use it. AFICT,
Word 2002 does not know about it and the only information is
about mutually adjusting Japanese and Western text. Can anyone
tell me if kerning is possible in Word and, if so, how to use
it?

TIA,

In Word 2003 it's found at

Format, Font, Character spacing tab. Check box for "Kerning for fonts"

Perhaps the same in 2002?

I don't really like replying to my own posts but I thought it
might be of some general interest despite that this is the only
extension of the thread or else not many have heard of kerning
:)

I can't find anything in Help but the facility does exist, tho'
I'll admit that I may not have thought of the right question to
ask. According to
http:///wordtips.vitalnews.com/printpages/T075P.html, the route
is
Select text>Format>Font>Character Spacing>Kerning for
Fonts>Character Point Size>OK.

I am embarrassed to report an error in the URL above. It should
be
