launching from outlook causes reading layout

hello,
whenever i launch a document from outlook it always shows up in the reading
layout. how can i have it open in normal layout?

Two issues here
1. You should not 'launch documents from Outlook' it is much safer to save
them to the hard drive and open from there.
2. Tools > options > general > uncheck allow starting in reading layout.

To always open in 'normal' view regardless of the view saved in the document
requires the help of a macro:

Sub AutoOpen()
ActiveWindow.Caption = ActiveDocument.FullName
With ActiveWindow.View
.Type = wdNormalView
.Zoom.Percentage = 100
End With
End Sub
