LDAP and Entourage

Like most other people who upgraded to Entourage 2004 with an Exchange
2000 email server, I found myself trying to figure out why I kept
getting errors in LDAP queries after I'd upgraded.

"An unknown error (-17768) has occurred."
"An unknown error (-17766) has occurred."
"An unknown error (-3248) has occurred."

I found the following worked for me:

I had to edit the directory services account (tools, accounts,
directory services; edit the account in question by modifying the
DIRECTORY tab):

Adjust the search base to read:

dc=mydomain,dc=com

And I also had to check

"This server requires me to log on"

I needed to ensure the following was UNchecked:

Override default LDAP port 389

Well it pretty much depends on the specific settings on your domain. On
my Mac I had to use a specific port for LDAP. That's what's so difficult
for LDAP, all domains use custum (and very different) settings :-\
