not actually the page legend. but, in the Project where it shows what each
bar means.... Sometimes, for a reason i'm not aware of, this section almost
completely disappears leaving me with 2 bars with squares & $ signs. Any idea?

Hi Jason,

Are you referring to the Format > Bar Styles dialog box? What version
of Project are you using? I have run into some odd behavior in the
Format >Bar Styles dialog box with Project 2007.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hello Jason,

The printed legend shows the information that appears in the Format >
Bar Styles command. So, if the names of the bars are garbled in the bar
styles dialog box, they will appear a garbled in the printed legend.
I'm afraid I don't have a fix I can recommend to prevent it from
happening, but you can go back and manually change the task name
information in the Format > Bar Styles dialog box to correct the printed
legend.

I see this occurring in files which were created in Project 2003 and
then opened in Project 2007. If the Gantt chart wizard is run, it has
changed the name of the tasks to garbled characters.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

thank you i will try that. also the whole company is running on 2000 version.
i'm the only one with 2007 since i'm the planner. because of this, i'm forced
to save under 2003 version so that they can view it. would this be causing
the problem?

Hi Jason,

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback.

To your question about saving as 2003 version, sadly the only way your
folks running 2000 can open the project file is if you do save as 2003.
If the other folks don't need to actually manipulate the project file --
just view it -- have you thought about printing the Project 2007 file to
a PDF writer (such as adobe) and sending them the pdf file?

If you must save as 2003, I would keep a copy that you use in 2007
version and only save copies to distribute to them. I would do all work
on the 2007 file.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
