License metering for Office

Can Office (or other MS apps) use license metering?

I have about 650 users, but some have multiple machines. Do I need to count
each for an Office license? I was under the impression that if SMS shows
650 users using Office concurrently, then I'm in compliance. No?

You need an individual license for each installation of Office.
"650 users using Office concurrently" is totally irrelevant.
You should know better! What would you do if a Microsoft
representative happened to stop by and requested a licensing
compliance check?

As it sits, we need to uninstall Office from all the secondary machines.
I haven't dealt with MS Licensing since the old Select (1998?) days. If
metering was an option, then I thought I would recommend this. Didn't it
use to be? What about one person, one license?
We're spending about $480k on licensing this year.

It's one (1) license for one (1) computer.
"Metering" is not an option.

Was metering ever an option?

Looks like viewers are the answer for the secondary machines.

For those interested, here are some ways to maximize your Microsoft dollars:
Secondary User Rights - If a user has a desktop and a laptop, you don't have
to license Office for the laptop.
MSDE Universal - Can be used for development needs.
Training - Training machines do not have to be licensed.

Disclaimer: There are restrictions for each. Please read some long
documents to find out more. None of these help me, but I thought that I'd
throw these out there. Please don't send the MS Police. I just heard how
much our bill is this year, and remembered some stuff from a while back.
