Link in table side

M

Mark G.

If I have a table with basically 2 vertical cells. The left cell will be a
menu while the right cell will have the content. How do I make it where when
a button on the menu is clicked, the content in the right window, changes,
then if another is clicked, it changes to something else? Sort of like the
content in the right window is it's own webpage or link. I hope I was clear.
Thanks for any detailed help you can provide.

Only possible thru Frames , IFrame or DHTML

And not really practically possible with dHTML.

This question is often asked by people who have heard that frames are bad,
yet they want to make their pages act like framed pages. Get beyond it.
Make pages link one to another, with each page having changed content. It's
how the web works....

For some reason, if I just try to use the frames, all I get in that menu is
open in new window. Seems like IFrames might be better anyhow. But I am
curious, if I have a menu on the left side of this table with 2 cells, if I
click on one button in the menu and then another button and soforth, how do
you get it to change within that IFrame rather than another page? Any
details there? Do you agree that IFrame might be better than regular frames?
Thanks much.

BTW, the menu system that will be in cell 1 of this table will not be in any
frame, just a simple dhtml menu. The menu will simple have the href listed
URL. So the trouble I am having is how to tell it and the inline frame to
the right in the other cell to open there. hope all of that makes sense.
hopefully I can get some help. Thanks much.

You are struggling with a non-issue. Dump the whole idea. Just make flat
pages that link to each other. Please. When you get some experience under
your belt, you can revisit this *if you want to*.

Thomas A. Rowe

You can not load individual page into a table cell. You would have use frames. For each link in your
menu, you must provide a frame target value, the name you have assigned to the frame or the IFrame.

Note: You can not use FP navigation component with frames, as they were not designed to work with
frames.

However, I agree with Murray, avoid frames, as they are bad for your site visitors.
