link protection

Hi. New to this group. With FrontPage 2000 can I prevent other websites
from directly linking to image files on my website?

Also, is there a way to prevent site visitors from saving these images to
their harddisk?

No and no. In order to display the image, the browser must first save it
to disk.

First question, not with FrontPage, but some hosts have a "hot link preventor" which can be enabled
on the server.

Second question. No, nope, can't be done.

Thank you both for the replies.

My server offers HotLink Protection but when I enable it my FrontPage forms
no longer work.

It's a pity FrontPage offers no way to protect images. It would stop other
sites from eating up my bandwidth.

Dizzy,

The way that the Internet works prevents you from keeping people from saving
your images. There's no way that any product can do this, and those that
claim to are blowing smoke so that they can steal your money.

If the hot link preventor is breaking your forms, it is not properly configured.

One good reason FP doesn't offer such a feature is that such a feature does not exist. Has
nothing to do with FP.
