Linking a Task from another Project as a Predecessor

Hello

How do you link a task from another project, to make it a predecessor
in a differeent project?

For example: Project A has Task A that cannot be completed until Task
B of Project B is completed?

We are using MS Project 2007 Server Professional SP1

Thanks

Steve

First bit of advice is to go via a milestone and keep it simple.

There are many ways of doing inter project links, regardless you need
to ensure file name and directory do not change. That has many
implications in its own right.

Easiest way is to open both projects then use the Window, New Window
command to show both projects in the one display. Select the
predecessor and successor tasks and use the link icon. After the link
you will see as predecessor the ID number as well as the path.

Close the files after saving, dont worry about saving the new window.

From then on MS Project should ask you on opening whether or not to
update links.
