linking access to excel

I am trying to create a new DB in Access that will link to
an existing Excel file. I want to link, rather than
import.

When I link (via file/get externel data/link table) it
does link to the excel data and even allows me to change
the data in the source file (excel) through Access. The
problem is that the "link spreadsheet wizard" does not
run. Instead I get just a "link" dialog box which lets me
link but bypasses many of the options that all of the
books say the wizard should bring up, including the option
to make the first row of my Excel data the field names in
Access.

Can anyone tell me how to get this wizard to run?
