Linking external table

Q

Question Boy

When creating a link to external tables in another database, is there a way
to make the link read-only?

You would control that through your user interface. If you are allowing
users direct access to tables, that is a mistake. Allow users acces to data
through forms only.

I always make them use a form, but in this case there are some very
knowledgeable individuals and I want to head them off at the curve (as they
say) before a problem arises and did not want to implement security, but it
looks like that will be my only choice to ensure that I don't have any
surprises down the line.

Thank you Klatuu for confirm that there weren't any othere options.

If you deliver an mde rather than an mdb and set your startup options to hide
the database window, it will make it more difficult for the knowledgeable
individuals.

If that doesn't work, I would suggest .45 ACP
