Linking to attachments/documents

I was wondering the best way to allow the user the ability to call up the
standard template (word or excel) for that table view and how I would
actually do this?

Could I have a link to a server document in the column heading? Or would I
use toolbars? If I used toolbars then would I assign this to a a macro or is
there a better soln? What is the VBA code to open a document up?

Cheers,

Mark

MarkC,
This newsgroup is dedicated to questions/issues with Microsoft Project,
a planning and scheduling application. I suggest you post to a Word or
Excel newsgroup.

Sorry I probably didnt make myself clear but this is within MSP. I want to be
able to call up documents from within MSP.

If you want to link to a document, select a task and from the insert menu
insert a hyperlink to the document location. As long as it is stored on an
accessible file share or website then you will see the hyperlink icon in the
indicator column on the left side.

I do not know what you mean by "call up the standard template for that table
view". Project table views are defined only within project and can not be
imported from word or excel.

Thanks Jack,

Standard template = our word/excel document = blank permit
Table View = As it says really

You are linking to a task. I have different Views (via Tables) depending on
the stage of his task. At each stage he will need to fill in a permit for
that part of the schedule. So I want a link to my blank permit. He fills out
the form and send by email to the necessary person. This new permit doesnt
need to be referenced in MSP. I don't want my blank permit to be referenced
at Task level but at MSP level inside our standard project.

Cheers,

Mark
PS I am off line until next week now.

Why not set your schedule up with summary tasks for each stage and a
hyperlink from each stage summary task to the document shared on a central
server?

If you want a more customized solution you could add a task bar and some
macros which could open the files or develop something using the task pane.
Those two take considerably more effort than just adding the hyperlink.
