Hello

In one of the Greenfield project in petrochemical industry, we want to link the MS - Project to "SAP"
I want to know whether it is possible to do this?
1. If yes then how to do this
2. What MS - Project version is required to be purchased

Thanking in advance & Regard

Yes, the linkage is possible. However, this capablity is not provided
in any version of Microsoft Project as standard. I suspect, but do not
know for sure, that no version of SAP provides this capability as
standard either.

Accordingly, you will probably have to design your own, or procure, an
interface. Be sure you know exactly what data you need/want to
interchange and define the business rules about how the data will move.
There are logical business connections between the two applications,
but they serve fundamentally different business purposes. For example,
Project's forte is "what could happen" whereas SAP's forte is "what has
happened."

Search Google for "sap microsoft project" for some leads:

http://www.google.com/search?q=sap+...illa-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
gives 194,000 hits.

Hi Rajesh

there is a SAP module for Project Management (PM by the name I believe) available. Probably you have to purchase is separately for your SAP installation. It consists of a crude project management tool with a close-to-unusable front-end. However, there is also an interface VBA plug-in available which allows you to upload an MS-Project data into this module. From there, it integrates with the rest of the SAP, but you still have to touch it in the PM module

However, as the handling of the PM module is increadibly hard (unless you are an SAP afficionado), if I were you I would follow another plan
- Check what data you really need in the SAP that you collect in MS Project
- Export this data from Project to Excel
- Import it from Excel to SAP, without using the PM module

Rajesh -

Are you talking for ongoing project management or for one
time implementation of SAP?

If an initial implementation, you can use an SAP tool
called Solution Manager to include MS Project downloads
(may be the wrong direction). Solution Manager functions
in detail are located at service.sap.com.

The relationship between MS and SAP is pretty strong so
you should be able to find a company doing this MS to SAP
integration and learn from their experience.

Thanks,

Brad
