Load Office 2000 upgrade on new drive

I had to replace my hard drive. I loaded XP home ok, updated XP versions ok
but I only have the Office 2000 upgrade version. I could not boot from the
old drive but I can I can see some of the /office directory files from a
command prompt. Does anyone know if there are specific files that the upgrade
looks for and does anyone know the names of the files? Would it work to
copy/paste those files to the new drive.

You need the disks of the original (qualifying) product. If you don't have
them, besides being illegal, it's not possible to load an upgrade.

And no, you can't "copy and paste" files from another system.

Probably not. But if you have the CD for whatever product qualified you for
the upgrade, you can just stick it in the CD drive when prompted that Office
2000 is looking for the qualifiying product. You don't actually have to
install it.

Here's a list of qualifying products.
