Logging users

Hi
I want to log the details of the computer user ie user name, when they use
the data base.
Can some one please point me in the right direction.
I am using access 97 but moving to 2003 shortly.

SQL Server makes this easy, and you don't have to download random API
calls (that won't work in Vista or Windows7 for example)

No SQL server but I will have to bear this in mind.
