Long Documents

I have a long document that I would like to break up into multiple documents with a table of contents. Through reading on this board it seems that Master Documents do not really work in practice. Does anyone have any other suggestions for organizing long documents? Thank you

That's correct. Master/subs can suck. However, once your document has been completed, it's not so bad. The thing to make absolutely sure of is to NEVER edit a subdocument when you're in the master document. Always open subdocuments individually to make changes in them.

Hi Kirstie,

You could create a consolidated TOC for all of the documents via RD fields.

Alternatively, you could consolidate all of the documents via INCLUDETEXT
fields and create a TOC in the normal manner.

Cheers
