Losing Files in OneNote

I keep losing files I have inserted in OneNote. I have notices that the
icon & file name continto be displayed, however the Inserted From
address is now blank.

I use the Insert Files option from the menu. The Files that are now
longer accessible are those which have moved location from their
original file store location e.g. after inserting the file to OneNote
from the desktop, at a later point the file is deleted from the original
desktop location.

If you right click the inserted file icon, what happens when you click the
Open menu item?

Absolutely nothing happens. I've looked at processes in Windows task
manager & no new processes start.

What version of Windows? What version of OneNote?
Have you run menu: Help-Office Diagnostics?
Can you insert (menu: Insert-Object; display as icon) a spreadsheet into a
Word document? Then delete the original file and open the inserted file in
Word?

I had this "problem" too until I found that I wasn't actually
inserting the file or email into OneNote but a shortcut. When I
deleted or moved the original, of course OneNote couldn't find it.

Are you sure you are really inserting the file?
